Today we are launching the Next Lap RC Academy blog, a place to document our progress for sponsors, families and everyone interested in helping young people discover radio-controlled cars.

Our first club will launch at Heymann Primary School. We are still developing the detailed format with the school, so confirmed arrangements will be shared when they are ready.

What we will share

This blog will provide straightforward updates on:

  • Preparing the academy's FTX Banzai touring car fleet
  • Developing safe, welcoming and beginner-friendly activities
  • Equipment, track and funding milestones
  • Support from sponsors and partners
  • What we learn as the first club takes shape

Built through partnership

Next Lap RC Academy is being developed in close partnership with West Bridgford Model Car Club, bringing practical RC racing knowledge and guidance into the programme.

We are also grateful for the support of CML Distribution, Bricks McGee, Sussex Model Centre, CTN Exhibitions Ltd and Hirsch-Tech. This support includes RC equipment, track carpet, funding and practical expertise, helping turn the pilot into something pupils can experience first-hand.

The next lap

The immediate focus is making the Heymann Primary School club a success. Expansion to other schools may be explored in the future, but no wider rollout is confirmed.

For now, we will use this blog to share the journey openly, celebrate each milestone and show supporters the difference their involvement is making.
