On Sunday 4 October, we carried out our first full test setup of the RC track, bringing together several of the donations and ideas we have been working on over the past few weeks.

Our first full test setup, with the guttering edge, pool noodle barrier and carpet all in place.
Guttering, Velcro and a masking tape applicator
We tested the guttering kindly donated by Wickes Community Programme as a track edge, alongside Velcro fixings to help hold the barriers securely to the carpet. We also tried out a masking tape applicator to help us lay clean, consistent track lines more quickly.
Pool noodle clips are working well
Someone has very kindly prototyped 3D printed clips to hold the pool noodle barriers in place, and the first versions have worked well. We are now busy printing more so we have enough to go around the full track.
Next steps
Our next job is to look at modifying the cars to slow them down a little from stock, making them easier and safer for pupils to drive. More on that in a future post.
Thank you to everyone who has donated materials and given their time so far, helping us turn the track from an idea into something pupils will soon be able to drive on.
